Assam : NIA Conducts Multiple Searches In ULFA-I Recruitment Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted multiple searches at 16 Assam locations in seven districts of Assam in connection with a United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) recruitment case.

These seven districts are – Kamrup, Dibrugarh, Nalbari, Tinsukia, Sadiya, Sivasagar and Charaideo.

The searches were conducted in response to “RC-23/2022/NIA/DLI pertaining to ULFA activities, including recruiting of youth in the ULFA, extortion of money for ULFA strengthening, radicalisation of youth for unlawful actions, and their training at camps based across the Indo-Myanmar border in Myanmar.”

NIA registered this case suo-moto under RC-23/2022/NIA/DLI dated 18/05/2022.

During the searches, digital devices, live ammunition, and incriminating documents and literature related to the banned organisation ULFA were seized.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
