Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury was sworn in as the new chairman of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) today.
Governor professor Jagdish Mukhi administered the oath of office to Bhushan Dev Choudhury at the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati in presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
After Rajiv Kumar Bora, the previous APSC chairman, completed his tenure in June of this year, the post became vacant.
Since then, Ajanta Nath, a commission member, has handled the chairman’s responsibilities.

Who is Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury?
Avid quizmaster Chaudhary began his career as an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer before being promoted to the position of IAS.
During his tenure, he served in a number of positions, including Deputy Commissioner of the Nalbari and Bajalj districts.
He will be the first chairman of the APSC with an ACS background.
Chief Minister Sarma took to Twitter and wrote, ” Attended the oath-taking ceremony of Shri Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury as APSC Chairman at Raj Bhavan. I hope his appointment to the prestigious chair will help the institution enhance its sanctity. Wish him all the very best in discharging his constitutional duties.”
