Nagaland: Police constable arrested in rape case

Guwahati: A police constable has been arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl in Nagaland’s Longleng district.

According to sources, the incident took place at Nangmah, a farming area, located around 7km from Tamlu town.

A police constable was posted at a Tamlu police station in Longleng district, though the name is not yet revealed.
According to sources, at the time of the incident, he was on duty as a local police ‘guide’ from the Tamlu PS for a NAP (IR) unit deployed to the Nangmah area for securing the construction of the Merangkong-Tamlu-Mon road project.

A few hours after allegedly raping the teen girl, the accused was caught by locals and taken into custody by the Longleng police, sources added.

A case has been registered against the police constable at Women Police Station in Longleng, and he has been arrested.
