A school teacher reportedly committed suicide at Gogamukh, in Assam’s Dhemaji district today on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
The deceased teacher has been identified as Rajen Bonia.
Rajen Bonia worked as an assistant teacher at 503 Auniati Koibarta Lower Primary School which was merged with Auniati Medium English School.

According to charges made by Bonia’s family members, he killed himself because the school which was established before independence had not been provincialised yet.
As per reports, the deceased teacher had likewise been working without pay for quite some time.
Police rushed to Bonia’s residence and sent his body for a post-mortem examination.
