Woman poisons daughter’s classmate to death out of jealousy in Puducherry
A class 8 student died after drinking a cold beverage that his classmates’ mothers allegedly poisoned in Puducherry.
The deceased boy has been identified as Bala Manikandan, a resident of Karaikal.
As per reports, Bala’s father Rajendran claims that his son attended school on Saturday for the annual rehearsal programme.
Bala started vomiting after he arrived home in the afternoon. He later told his parents that ever since he drank the cold beverage the school watchman Devadhas offered him he had been vomiting, said his father.
His parents had taken him to Karaikal Government Hospital immediately where he died during treatment.
Bala’s father said that they had not given their son any cold drinks before he left school when the school told his parents that he had drank a beverage sent by them.

When the parents questioned the watchman, he said that a person claiming to be a relative of Bala had brought him the drink and urged him to give it to the boy.
On checking CCTV footage, it was revealed that the person who gave the drink was identified as Sakaya Rani Victoria, whose children are in the same class.
Bala’s mother Malathi filed a police complaint at Karaikal city police station, alleging that Sakaya Rani Victoria poisoned the drink. She was arrested, and a case was filed against her.
According to reports, she poisoned her daughter’s classmate to death because the boy excelled in academics and extracurricular activities.
