Assam to be observed students’ day on March 31 from now on

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that the Chatra Divas or Students’ Day will be observed on March 31 from now on.

During his visit to Kokrajhar district, the state government will take initiatives to celebrate March 31 as Chatra Divas every year, Sarma said.

He also paid tributes to Bodofa Upendranath Brahma at his burial ground at Thulungapuri in Dotoma.

Sarma also laid the foundation for infrastructure development of burial grounds under the Special Infrastructure Development Project for Rs. 10 crores.

Before the Cabinet meeting, Sarma also visited the residence of Brahma and spent some time with his family.

Taking to Twitter, Sarma wrote, “Inaugurated Bodoland Administrative Staff College at Gaurang Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar. This will help in improving administrative acumen among BTR staff and train them in several facets of administration, particularly in 6th Schedule & Autonomous Council administration.”

“Laid foundation stones for VCDC Bhawan with 229 VCDC offices on BTC Secretariat premises and EM & MCLA Towers with quarters for BTC EMs & members at Harinaguri, Kokrajhar. ₹25 lakh has been earmarked for construction of each 229 VCDC office under Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan”, he added in another tweet.
