Assam: Lat Mandal Caught Red-Handed While Accepting Bribe In Darrang
Guwahati: In yet another arrest of government officials for corruption, a team of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption arrested one Hari Das Singha, Lat Mandal of office of the circle officer, Patharighat revenue circle, Darrang while taking bribe on Wednesday.
According to sources, a complaint was received that Das had demanded a sum of Rs. 20,000 for mutation of land measuring half bigha in the name of the complainant.
However, Singha was arrested while accepting Rs 18,000 from a man identified as Pankaj Deka for land mutation.
Currently, Singha is under interrogation by the police team.
Taking to twitter, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh wrote, “Sri Hari Das Singha Lat Mondal of Patharighat Circle Officer Darrang District has been trapped and arrested red handed today by team of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM while accepting demanded money for land mutation of the complainant.”
Meanwhile, the bribe money was recovered from Das’s possession.
A case has been registered in ACB PS on 07/09/2022 vide ACB P. S Case No. 36/2022 u/s 7(a)of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) against Hari Das Singha, Lat Mandal of Office of the Circle Officer, Patharighat Revenue Circle, Darrang.
Last month, the Lat Mandal of Sapekhati Revenue Circle in Charaideo district, Hari Prasad Das was arrested for demanding a bribe of Rs. 10,000.
