Guwahati: A youth boy was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing his mother in Assam’s Hailakandi district on Thursday.
The incident took place in the Toll Road area in the district.
The victim identified as Joyshree Debroy, who was a retired government official, was found dead inside her bedroom.
According to police, a plastic rope was found next to the body, and it’s suspected that she was killed with it.
The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
Family members claimed that the victim and the accused son, Tridip Debroy, used to share a room and that he had long been a cause of conflict for the family.
Earlier, a family member had lodged a complaint against Tridip but withdrawn it after he had apologized for his alleged behavior, they added.
Police have arrested the accused in connection to the case.
