Assam Congress leader resigns from party due to ‘directionless and confused’ leadership
Guwahati: The General Secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Kamrul Islam Choudhury resigned from the primary membership of the party on Sunday.
Choudhury submitted his resignation letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
In a letter addressed to Sonia Gandhi, Choudhury said that the main reason for leaving the post was the “directionless and confused leadership of the APCC”.
He said that the “present instability” of the Congress party in Assam has left him with no reason to continue as a member of INC.
Choudhury stated that “Most of the senior leaders of congress party of the State including PCC President Bhupen Bora publicly regarding the cross-voting of INC MLAs in the recently held election of President of India (he even termed the MLAs as “GADDAR”), but still there has been no action against the concerned MLAs, which has demoralized thousands of grassroot workers like me who have given blood and sweat for the party for years.”
