Cyber Criminal arrested in Assam’s Jorhat
A cyber criminal has been arrested in Assam’s Jorhat district today.
The cyber criminal has been identified as Navam Shrotriya alias Piku.
According to reports, Navam robbed Rs. 16 lakhs from the Punjab National Bank account of Lalit Shyam, a retired college principal.
Lalit told the media that he had no idea how they got into his bank account and robbed Rs. 16 lakhs.
He went to Titabor Police Station after learning that the fraudsters had stolen his entire savings.
The cops eventually apprehended the fraudster.
Lalit Shyam further stated that for the first time he heard of such an incident.

He advises other citizens of the state to be alert to such situations.
In the previous five years, there has been a steady increase in cybercrime cases.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), there were 50,035 cases of cybercrime filed in 2020, up from 12,317 cases in 2016.
With the increased use of information and communication technologies in India, cybercrime is on the rise (ICT).
Despite this concerning development, law enforcement organisations’ ability to investigate cybercrime remains limited.
