Veteran actor & former Union Minister Krishnam Raju no more

Former Union Minister and legendary actor Uppalapati Krishnam Raju died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

He was 83 years old and is survived by his wife and three daughters.

He was admitted to the hospital on August 5. According to hospital sources, he was suffering from post-COVID-19 illnesses.

He was diagnosed with severe pneumonia caused by multidrug resistant bacteria and fungal species, as well as severe infective bronchitis.

Raju was uncle of ‘Baahubali’ star Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju, known mononymously as Prabhas.

He was a two-term Lok Sabha member and a Union Minister of State in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee administration.

Raju, often known as the ‘Rebel Star,’ starred in over 180 films and created trends with his rebellious roles.
In 1966, he began his film career with the Telugu film ‘Chilaka Gorinka.’

He received multiple awards and accolades for his roles in films.
