Assam: 47, cattle seized from truck in Golaghat
Police seized 47 cattle from a truck in the Golaghat district of Assam on Monday morning.
The cattle were seized due to overcrowding in the truck.
Based on intelligence inputs about illegal cattle transportation, a team of officials from the Bokakhat Police Station intercepted a truck and recovered 48 cattle from it, one of which was in critical condition.
The seized cattle, according to Anita Hazarika, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Bokakhat, were fully packed in the truck.
The cattle were transported from the Bihora market area to the Nagaon district town of Samaguri.
The officer stated that when they searched the truck, they found several cattle inside, many of which were dead due to congestion.

Police will dispose of the cattle bodies in accordance with the court’s instructions, the officer said.
The truck driver has been apprehended and is being questioned by police.
In connection with this, a case had been filed at the Bokakhat police station.
