Assam: Boat capsizes in Brahmaputra, several missing including govt officials

Guwahati: At least ten people are missing after a boat overturned in the Brahmaputra River in Assam’s Dhubri district on Thursday.

According to sources, around 29 passengers were on the country-made boat.

The incident occurred when the boat was on its way to Bhashani when it hit the post of a bridge at Adabari.

After receiving the information, State Disaster Response Fund teams were immediately rushed to the spot and rescued two people.

As per official, among those on the boat, was a circle officer, identified as Sanju Das. He was on the boat alongside other officials and locals.

Four people who were injured in the incident and were taken to the Dhubri civil hospital.

Rescue operations are underway, informed SDRF.
