Assam Introduces ‘Bodo’ As Medium of Instruction In Class XI & XII

In a recent development for Assam’s educational system, the Bodo language has been introduced at the Higher Secondary level in schools all around the state.

The Bodo language have been introduced both in Bodo medium and mixed medium (having Bodo medium) in higher secondary schools.

Classes XI and XII students can now take classes in mixed and Bodo languages.

“In the public interest and in the academic interest of students belonging to Bodo community and other students inclined to study in Bodo medium, the Governor, Assam is pleased to accord necessary approval for the introduction of Bodo medium in the Higher Secondary Level consisting of classes XI and XII in the Bodo medium and Mixed (having Bodo medium) Higher Secondary Schools in the State of Assam,” an official notification issued by the department of school education, Assam read.

The order will be in effect immediately and until further notice, according to the statement.
