Assam Police seizes 35 cattle inside a passenger bus
Guwahati: At least 35 smuggled cattle were found inside a passenger bus that was seized by Police in Assam’s Nagaon district on Saturday.
On Friday, based on specific information, the police launched an operation at Missa.
A night super bus that was traveling from the Eastern Assam side and heading toward Meghalaya was stopped early on Saturday morning, as per the official.
However, the driver and conductor fled from the bus. Meanwhile, the police rescued the cattle.
The police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Assam police arrested four cattle smugglers and rescued nine cattle heads in the Borghat area of the Nagaon district.
Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted two vehicles coming from the Samuguri area and found the cattle in them.
Those arrested have been identified as Roshidul Haque alias Ratul (22), Sahjahan Ali (32), Ashadul Islam (21) and Amit Nayak (23), a police official said.
