Dhubri boat accident: Mortal remains of Sanju Das taken to his native village in Silchar
The mortal remains of Circle officer Sanju Das who died in a tragic boat accident in the Brahmaputra River in Assam’s Dhubri on September 29 were taken to his paternal home in Silchar today.
When the mortal remains arrived in Silchar, they were kept at the Circuit House, where district administration officials paid their last respects.
Following this, the deceased’s mortal remains were transported to his native village Irongmara in the Dhalai district, where he will be laid to rest with full state honours.
The body of the circle officer was recovered yesterday near the incident spot.
It may be mentioned that all 28 passengers who went missing in the boat accident on September 29 were rescued by the SDRF teams earlier.
The incident happened when a boat carrying 29 passengers lost control in the Brahmaputra due to the strong currents.
Meanwhile, Badruddin Ajmal, the chief of the AIUDF, has alleged that the entire incident of the boat capsizes in Dhubri was a “conspiracy” to “eliminate” a sincere officer.
He also stated that if the circle officer is not located, his family must be compensated, and his kin should be given government employment, he added.
