Deepshikha Hazarika, a mountaineer from Assam’s Guwahati is among those who went missing in the massive avalanche at Draupadi Ka Danda-II mountain peak in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi.
Deepshikha is a trainee at the Uttarkashi-based Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM).
Deepshikha’s parents, meanwhile, are devastated after learning of her absence.
The NIM reported that the avalanche injured 41 people, including 34 trainees and 7 mountaineering instructors.
A 41-member team of mountaineers was returning after climbing the peak when they were hit by the avalanche on October 4.
Four mountaineers lost their lives, while, at least eight other mountaineers who were trapped in an avalanche were rescued immediately yesterday.
