Assam: Wild elephant electrocuted in Kokrajhar district
Guwahati: A wild elephant died due to electrocution in Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at Tripur village near Mahamaya temple under the Sanfan forest range of Gossaigaon town of the district when a jumbo came into contact with a live wire that was exposed from its pole.
After receiving information, forest officials reached the scene and examined the dead elephant.
Meanwhile, the wild dead elephant has been sent for an autopsy.
As per forest officials, the male wild elephant, who was part of an elephant herd, was looking for food when it was electrocuted when it came into touch with a high-tension electrical live wire that was hanging considerably lower than the recommended height.
Recently, a similar incident was reported where a wild elephant died due to electrocution in the Kamrup district in the state.
