Assam Police foil cattle smuggling bid in Sivasagar, 7 held
Guwahati: Assam Police on Thursday seized four trucks loaded with 32 cattle heads in the Sivasagar district and arrested seven people in a case of cattle smuggling.
As per officials, the four trucks were intercepted based on specific inputs about the movement of vehicles with illegally loaded cattle.
The trucks were heading from Silapathar to Nagaon. At least seven cattle smugglers were arrested in connection to the seizure.
It is learned that another cattle-laden truck was spotted by the police but was able to flee from the spot.
On Wednesday, Guwahati police intercepted a truck carrying cattle in the Jorabat area along the Assam-Meghalaya border and arrested two people in a case of cattle smuggling.
The arrested persons have been identified as Laden Ali and Mohidul Ali, residents of the Mikirbhata area in Morigaon district.
