Assam: Water Level Of Brahmaputra River Rises Due To Incessant Heavy Rainfall

Guwahati: The water level of streams of the Brahmaputra rose due to incessant heavy rainfall causing waterlogging in several parts of the city in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Monday.

Meanwhile, since last night, incessant rains triggered in Guwahati too, and the city reported waterlogging.
Artificial floods continued to cause problems in Hatigaon, Chandmari, Zoo Road, and other areas.

Furthermore, commuters were stuck amidst knee-high water with motorists struggling to cross the inundated areas.

On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that heavy rainfall is likely to continue over various parts of northeast states.

As per the official, fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya from October 10-12, and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from October 10-11.

They informed, fairly widespread to widespread rain is likely over Northeast India with locally heavy falls over Northeast India and its adjoining areas on Tuesday.
