The most recent floods in Assam have impacted nearly 70,000 people across five districts.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority’s (ASDMA’s) flood report, the latest wave of flooding has affected 69750 residents of the districts of Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, and Nagaon.
In the five districts, the floodwaters have flooded 110 communities and 3021 hectares of farmland.
27,119 individuals in the Lakhimpur district have been impacted by the third wave of flooding, according to the ASDMA flood report.
At Neematighat in the Jorhat district, the Brahmaputra River’s water level is still over the danger level mark.
22 relief distribution facilities have been established by the Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, and Dibrugarh district administration.
On the other hand, the flood also had an impact on 34827 domestic animals.
The ASDMA and all other stakeholders have increased response and recovery assistance to the badly affected areas in light of the state’s present flood scenario.
In the Dhemaji area, where 76 villages and 2,838 hectares of crops are currently inundated, the flood situation has gotten worse as 38,774 people, including 7,885 children, have been affected by the deluge.
Many locals have fled their houses and sought refuge in more secure locations.
Teams from the district administration and SDRF are working to rescue people in the regions affected by the floods.
Six help distribution centres have been established by the district administration in flood-affected communities.
