Assam CM’s security upgrades to Z-plus from Z-category by Centre

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been accorded a ‘Z-Plus’ category security cover of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) by the Centre on Friday.

According to sources, centre upgrades the security of Sarma from Z-category CRPF security cover in the North-Eastern region to Z+ category CRPF security cover on an all-India basis.

Z-plus security is the highest level of protection (after the SPG cover), this security ring has 55 personnel, including CRPF commandos, who guard the protectee 24×7.

However, if the need is felt based on intelligence inputs, additional protection with National Security Guard (NSG) commandos is also provided. A bulletproof vehicle and escort vehicle is included in this security cover.

Earlier, Sarma had Z category cover provided, this comes next and comprises 22 personnel, including commandos and police personnel.
