Congress leader Shashi Tharoor arrives in Guwahati, joins Bihu dancers during campaigning

Guwahati: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Saturday arrived in Guwahati for the campaign of the forthcoming election of the party president.

Congress leader was accompanied by Pradyut Bordoloi to Rajiv Bhawan, while Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Bhupen Borah was not present to welcome Tharoor at the airport.

Tharoor joined folk dancers as they performed Bihu at Rajiv Bhawan. The leader cheered the dancers, clapping to the beats of the instruments.

Tharoor was campaigning for the upcoming party polls in Guwahati.

Earlier, Mallikarjun Kharge, the other contestant in the Congress election also visited Guwahati to the campaign.

However, this is the first time Congress is holding an election to choose its chief in 22 years. The votes will be counted on October 19.
