Terrorists killed a civilian in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian area today, according to the police.
Terrorists opened fire on the victim, a Kashmiri Pandit named Puran Krishan Bhat, as he made his way to the orchard at Choudhary Gund in Shopian.
Bhat was taken to a hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
“#Terrorists fired upon a #civilian (minority) Shri Puran Krishan Bhat while he was on way to an orchard in Chowdari Gund #Shopian. He was immidiately shifted to hospital for treatment where he #succumbed. Area cordoned off. Search in progress, (sic)” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
Security personnel have cordoned off the area and begun searching for the murderers.
The killing, according to the Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS), was intended to convey to the Union home minister that “all is not ok” in Kashmir.
Sanjay Tickoo, president of the KPSS, alleged that in order to portray normalcy in the Valley, officials are pressuring the victim’s family to carry out final rites as quickly as feasible.
