The Champhai Police seized over 140 exotic animals and birds on Saturday.
The confiscated animals are thought to have been smuggled out of Myanmar.
The Champhai Police and Champhai Excise & Narcotics Department provided precise information based on which the Mizoram Police made the seizure.
Three people who are thought to be part of an international wildlife trafficking nexus were moving the animals in three SUVs.
Lalremruata (38), Tinkhuma (38), and E. Lalmuanpuia were the three people arrested during the operation (29).
They are all Champhai locals.
30 tortoises, 2 monkeys, 2 Marmoset monkeys, 22 Python, 18 Sumatran Water Monitor, 55 Crocodile (Hatchlings), 4 Flame bowerbirds, 4 Servel cats, 2 Marmoset, and 1 Albino wallaby are among the rescued exotic animals, and birds.
An investigation has been initiated into the matter.
