A male leopard was tragically beaten to death on Sunday in Khumtai in Assam’s Golaghat district by irate villagers.
According to sources, a leopard had apparently attacked three men nearby before being pursued and killed by enraged villagers.
The leopard was killed after being attacked with a machete, an axe, and sticks.
It is learned that the leopard has long been a source of concern in the area.
Forest officials arrived at the scene after the incident and recovered the body.
A full-grown leopard was recently aged in the Mohbondha tea estate in the Jorhat area of Assam.
The leopard was caged by the Jorhat forest department following complaints by locals.
According to sources, the leopard has been causing fear and panic around the area for a number of days.
