Assam: CBI arrests a railway officer for accepting bribe in Rangia
Guwahati: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a railway officer for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from Rangia in Assam’s Kamrup Rural district.
The arrested officer has been identified as Robin Das, the inspector of the welfare department, and a resident of Hajo.
As per sources, based on the complaint, the CBI team launched an operation at the personnel branch of the welfare bureau of the Rangia division of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
The officer was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe, officials said.
He was allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from a complainant in return of providing a medical report, sources added.
