Assam: Another wild elephant dies due to electrocution in Charaideo
Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a wild elephant died due to electrocution near the Napuk tea estate in Assam’s Charaideo district on Friday.
The accident occurred when the elephant came in contact with a live electric wire.
As per officials, during the preliminary investigation, we found that the elephant died due to electrocution.
“The incident took place at the eighth number line of the Napuk tea estate,” the official added.
On October 17, a similar incident too reported in the Nagaon district, an elephant died after coming in contact with an electrical wire. The electrical wire was connected to a field at the Baneswar forest camp in Jakhalabandha.
According to the sources, 11 wild elephants died in Assam between October 7-14. On October 9, a female elephant and her calf were killed after being hit by the Rajdhani Express. Another sub-adult, involved in the same accident, succumbed to injuries two days later.
