Assam Police Foil Cattle Smuggling Bid, 1 held
One person has been arrested by the Guwahati Police on October 20 while he was trying to smuggle cattle.
The police team also rescued 28 cattle heads from a 12-wheeler truck at Jorabat junction under Basistha PS in East Guwahati Police District, Assam (EGPD) by Assam police.
The cattle heads were transported from Bezera, Kamrup, and the accused allegedly tried to smuggle them into Byrnihat.
The arrested cattle smuggler has been identified as Md Rajmul Ali, a resident of the Sipajhar.
Legal action has been initiated in the case.
“An EGPD team from Jorabat OP of Basistha PS intercepted a 12-wheeler truck (AS01 JC 4322) at Jorabat junction tonight, when it was trying to smuggle 28 cattle into Byrnihat, brought from Bejera, Kamrup. One Md Rajmul Ali of Sipajhar was arrested. Legal action has been initiated,” tweeted Guwahati Police.
Earlier this month, Police foiled another smuggling attempt and extricated 34 cattle heads from a bus in Nagaon district.
