Manipur girl selected for NCC Youth Exchange Program in Vietnam
Guwahati: Miranda Thongam, a graduate student of Imphal College of Manipur selected for the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Youth Exchange Program (YEP) in Vietnam.
Thongam is the only Cadet selected from the entire northeast region amongst 13 Cadets of India.
Miranda Thongam, who is a resident of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai got selected for the NCC Youth Exchange Program (YEP) to Vietnam from September 19 to September 29.
Unfortunately, she lost her both parents and has been brought up by her two elder sisters and her aunt.
“I am so grateful to NCC for providing me the opportunity to go abroad. NCC is the largest uniformed youth organisation in the country, which is totally dedicated to promoting national spirits and patriotism”, Thongam said.
“I am extremely grateful to NCC, especially Major General Bhaskar Kalita, YSM, ADG NCC NER. When my selection came to his notice, he ordered his staff to provide all possible assistance to me to ensure that there are no administrative or technical hurdles, since this is a matter of immense pride to Manipur and NCC,” she stated.
“Following the orders of Bhaskar Kalita, one of his officer got in touch with the Govt authorities of Manipur, including the Chief Minister. The Manipur government helped me out in preparing past port visa and all. This made preparations for my trip very easy. So, I am extremely grateful to Hon’ble CM, Manipur for all the kind assistance”, she added.
Thongam further added, “Also grateful to NCC, Imphal Group, officers, staff and cadets of 65 Manipur Battalion NCC, teachers of my school, neighbours, etc.”
