Assam: Senior bureaucrat suspended after arrest for taking bribe
Guwahati: The Assam government suspended a Joint Secretary of the Home and Political department after he was arrested by the sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption for accepting bribe money, officials said on Monday.
As per the official, the Home and Political Department issued a notification on Monday stated that the Assam Governor has placed Sharma under suspension with effect from the date of his arrest until further orders.
Kisan Kumar Sharma, ACS, the joint secretary in the Home and Political Department, was arrested on on October 28 while accepting bribes for the renewal of the licence of a security firm.
Sharma was caught red-handed accepting bribe money of Rs 90,000.
A further search of his house led to the recovery of Rs 49.24 lakh in cash, officials said.
