Assam: Speeding dumper runs over 5-yr-old In Tezpur

Guwahati: A five-year-old child was killed when a speeding dumper ran over in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Monday.

The incident took place in front of the Borghat Police Outpost in Tezpur of the district.

The child was hit by the dumper as it was coming at a high rate of speed and instantly killed, officials said.

Meanwhile, the dumper was seized by the local police.

Following the incident, protests erupted in the region as enraged locals came out on the streets.

They demanded that trucks and dumpers, as well as other large, heavy vehicles, be prohibited from operating between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm.

They demanded that freight carrying or otherwise, heavy vehicles like trucks and dumpers not be allowed to ply during the daytime, that is, between 7 am to 4 pm.
