Assam: Class 12 student brutally murdered in Dhemaji

Guwahati: A Class 12 student’s body was found in a bloodied condition at the Jonai area in Assam’s Dhemaji district on Monday.

The incident occurred at Udaypur in Jonai, sources said.

As per the investigation, police suspected that the youth was murdered.

The deceased was identified as Kaling Mayang (18), a student of Lisang Junior College in the Jonai region of the district.

According to sources, the deceased was attacked and killed when he was returning back to home from the “Raas” festival that was taking place all throughout the state.

Meanwhile, Jonai police reached the spot and recovered the body for post-mortem.

Following initial investigations, one person, identified as Metin Patir, has been detained by the police in connection with the matter.

As per the official, Patir has been taken for questioning and further investigation is underway.
