AIIMS Server Issue: “Hackers did not ask for ransom”, Delhi Police said….

New Delhi: Since almost a week, the Delhi AIIMS server hack case came to notice. The Delhi Police has said that the hackers have not asked for any ransom. Earlier, information was received from the official sources of the country’s largest hospital that the hackers have demanded a ransom of Rs 200 crore in the form of cryptocurrency. 

The case of AIIMS server being hacked came to the fore on Wednesday. It was found that for almost a week, the AIIMS server is reportedly battling with a ransomware attack. Trying to scan and fix it. The problem is that the server contains data of crores of patients and includes VVI data like many ministers, former ministers, judges and bureaucrats.

Teams of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Delhi Police are probing the ransomware attack on the AIIMS server. A case of extortion and cyber terrorism was registered on Friday by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police in the AIIMS server hack case. Internet services on the computers of the hospital were suspended on the recommendation of the investigating agencies. 

Earlier, Delhi Police had told news agency ANI that AIIMS officials have denied any ransom demanded by the hackers. 

According to AIIMS source on Monday, it may take another four-five days to restore. He had said that after this the online services of AIIMS related to e-hospital can be started in a phased manner. The source had informed the news agency that right now the work of services like emergency, OPD, admitted patients, patient care and lab is being done through paper ie by hand. 

As per information, NIC e-hospital database and application server for e-hospital have been restored. According to AIIMS sources, antivirus has been installed in about 1,200 out of 5,000 computers, while 20 out of 50 servers have been scanned.
