New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated an airport named after late Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. Inaugurating the Manohar Parrikar International Airport, Modi said, “The new airport will improve the state communication system and the tourism industry.
”Rs 2,870 crore has been spent on the construction of the new airport at Mopa. In the first phase, the airport will be able to serve 44 lakh passengers annually. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the new airport in 2016. A few days ago, Manohar’s son Utpal Parrikar had said that it would be a matter of great pleasure for the people of Goa if the airport is named after his father. In reality, that’s it.
