New Delhi:The bone fragments recovered by the police from the jungles of Delhi’s Mehrauli belong to Shraddha Walkar. The Delhi police said that the matter was confirmed after the DNA test report came on Thursday. Aftab Poonawala, the main accused in the murder case, took the police to the forest after his arrest.
DNA samples of Shraddha’s father were collected and matched with the bones recovered from the forest. The report was released on Thursday. On May 18, Aftab allegedly strangled Shraddha to death. For the next 18 days, Aftab cut the body of Shraddha into 35 pieces. After this, he left the body pieces in the surrounding forest.
Delhi Police has so far recovered several knives in the case. They alleged that Aftab had dismembered Shraddha’s body with the knives. Some confessions of Aftab were also found in the interrogation. However, the police said that this was not enough evidence. Aftab has undergone a lie-detection test. The police are going to present them as evidence against Aftab in the court. However, the police see the DNA test report as big evidence.
In October last year, Shraddha’s father Vikas Walkar had informed the Maharashtra Police about his daughter’s disappearance. He did not have a relationship for a long time as he liked the son of daughter Vinsh Dharma. After vikas’s complaint, the police sat down. After seeing the call list of Shraddha’s mobile, the police came to know that she was in Delhi. The Delhi Police is investigating. It is learned that Aftab met Shraddha through a dating app while working at a call center in Mumbai. They had moved to Delhi in April this year. He rented a house there.
