Bad news for the common man! Ceiling fan prices to go up from 8 to 20 per cent

New Delhi:The rise in prices of essential commodities has given a blow to the masses. At a time when the prices of commodities like ceiling fans will also go up now. The price of ceiling fan will go up by 8 to 20 percent. As the ceiling fan has been mandatorily labelled star from January 1. The price of ceiling fan has increased since coming under the star label. According to the revised Energy Efficiency Bureau (BEE) rules, star labelling indicates energy consumption.

Putting a star means a minimum energy saving of 30 per cent. The 5 star rated means less energy consumption of at least over 50 per cent. Leading manufacturers like Havels, Orient Electric and Usha International have welcomed the move. According to companies, installation of stars will increase the price of ceiling fan by 8 to 20 per cent. As 5-star rated fans with low energy consumption will require newly imported advanced motors and electronic devices.
