Guwahati:A delegation of All Assam Newspapers Association visited the headquarters of ‘Prag News’ in Ulubari today and gave a warm welcome to Sanjeev Narayan, owner of ‘Prag News’. It is noteworthy that Sanjib Narayan took part in ‘Dainik Janambhoomi’, one of the oldest heritage newspaper groups of Assam as a shareholder. The association congratulated Sanjeev Narayan for his new venture. The delegation was led by All Assam Newspapers Association President Rakesh Sharma, General Secretary and Managing Director of ‘Dainandin Barta’ Group Shankar Gohain, Nitul Sharma, Kumud Nath, Kalyan Mishra etc.

The delegation expressed hope that in the presence of people like Sanjeev Narayan, a proper solution could be found to the problems faced by newspapers in Assam in the future. In this regard, Sanjib Narayan assured the All Assam Newspaper Association that he would cooperate in all possible ways. He said that the future of newspapers in Assam will never be bad and he also hoped that the people of Assam will read newspapers.

The delegation of All Assam Newspapers Association also discussed with Narayan the issue of low rate of advertisements and increase in the prices of news print and other printing items. Most of the newspapers in the state are associated with the ‘All Assam Newspapers Association’, an umbrella body of newspapers in Assam. It is to be noted that the spread of COVID-19 around the world and the economic crisis created after the lockdown are all kinds. The rise in commodity prices has been finding it difficult for the authorities to maintain the circulation and printing of papers which are regularly being published on a daily basis. In these papers, a large number of unemployed youth are also employed .
The newspapers that have been serving the mother tongue have also helped create a section of regular writers, journalists, litterateurs. Meanwhile, there has been an unprecedented increase in prices of news prints, inks and other printing materials. As a result, the dailies are in an economic crisis. Keeping this issue in mind, the delegation once again urged the government to keep this issue in mind and increase the rate of advertisements.
