New Delhi: Even in ancient times, people used fridges to keep food well! For the time being, such a thing has now been proved. Of course, there were no earlier fridges like today’s fridges. At that time there were various ways to keep food cool. Modern fridges were discovered much later in the world. Recently archaeologists have dug up in southern Iraq and recovered about 5,000 years old fridge-like machines.

A team of archeologists from America as well as Italy discovered this fridge-like compound in the ruins of ancient Lagas in the north-east of Nasiria in mortal Iraq. The discovery has been done in al-Hiba, a city known as the oldest urban center of the Sumerian civilization in ancient Iraq. Researchers have found an open courtyard at the site. There are also benches, an oven, ancient food debris, and a 5,000-year-old moisture-saving food cooling machine. The team of researchers said that the machine can be compared to the ‘modern day fridge’.
