Mumbai:His wife died 24 years ago. Neither of the two sons cares. That’s why Pulpandiyan, a resident of Tamil Nadu, spends the day begging. But 72-year-old Pulpandiyan did not spend the alms for himself but donated everything to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He had earned Rs 50 lakh by begging for five years. But he visited various districts of Tamil Nadu and donated money to government offices.
In an interview with CNN News18, he said, “There is no one in my family. What do I do with so much money? My wife died a long time ago. The boys are also married. Now they have a different family. The boys don’t take care of me. So I roam around alone, beg and run my own expenses. Pulpandiyan said he first donated money to the relief fund in May 2020 during the Covid pandemic. He donated Rs 10,000 for the first time. After that, he went to the offices of district collectorates of different districts of Tamil Nadu and donated money.
