“World Cochlear Implant” day celebrated with the courtesy of Pratidhani and Pratiksha Hospital
Guwahati: World Cochlear Implants Day is celebrated on Saturday, February 25, this year with the courtesy the Pratdhani -Language and Hearing Development Centre and Pratiksha Hospital at Kamala Kanta Barua Children’s Park at Rukmininagar, Guwahati today. Dr. Biswajit Gogoi, eminent physician, Director, Pratidhani -Language and Hearing Development Centre inaugurated event by lighting lamp.Eminent physician Dr Gautam Khaund, eminent paediatrician Dr Parthapratim Bora, Chief Executive of Pratidhani -Language and Hearing Development Centre, Audiologist Pragya Bhardwaj, Speech and Language Specialist Pritismita Krishnatray Sharma, audiologist and speech pathologist Mansi Sharma and psychiatrist Dr Chandamita Chaudhary were present on the occasion.
In line with the said event, dance, singing among cochlear implant children, exchange of views between experts and parents of cochlear implant children, description of parents’ own experiences, as well as distinguished doctors Offers valuable advice. At the end of the event certificates were presented to cochlear implant childrens. It is to be noted that a cochlear implant is an electrical device that improves hearing.birth, are helpful in hearing sounds like normal people by providing sound signals to the hearing nerves through cochlear implant method. The Pratidhani -Language and Hearing Development Centre has been working for a long time in the development of children with speech and hearing impairments. The Pratidhani Cochlear Implant program is designed to support and strengthen every cochlear implant recipient and their parents not just to communicate and learn so as to integrate with everyone in the community. Moreover, the Cochlear Implant programme has been running smoothly since 2014 with the courtesy of Pratiksha Hospital which offers both surgical as well as post-operative audiological and therapy services. More than 50 pediatric cochlear implant surgeries have been performed under the programme till date.
