The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has advised every doctor in India not to prescribe antibiotics on the prescription of patients suffering from seasonal fever, cold, cough etc. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has released a notice containing such recommendations on the social media platform of the association. Seasonal fever lasts for five to seven days as per a notification issued by the IMA’s Anti-Microbial Resistance Committee. The fever goes away after three days, but the cold and cough can last for up to three weeks. There are many specialist doctors from India on the IMA’s committee. People above the age of 50 and below 15 years of age are facing fever as well as respiratory problems in India, the agency said. The notice asks doctors to avoid antibiotics, only to perform symptomatic treatment.
