New Delhi:The employee wears a full-sleeved shirt on the plane. But the eyes are glued to the sleeves! There are gold sheets wrapped in plastic in both hands. The Air India employee had planned to smuggle around 1.5 kg of gold in this way. The customs department has arrested the man. An investigation has already been launched into the incident.
It is learned that the name of the accused employee is Shafi. He was on duty on a flight from Bahrain to Kochi on Wednesday. After landing at the Kerala airport, Shafi tried to get out normally like the rest of the passengers. But customs officials had information through sources that the gold could be smuggled from Bahrain. In the same way, the search for the passengers started.
That’s when Shafi was caught. He had planned to enter India with about 1.5 kg of gold. Wrap the gold sheets in plastic to dust everyone’s eyes. Put the plastic back in his hand. He put on a full-sleeved shirt on top of it, so that the gold plates would not be seen in any way. However, Shafi was caught in the scanner. He was immediately arrested by customs officials.
The customs department has already started an investigation against Shafi. But the question arises, how did he board the plane with this huge amount of gold. However, Air India has strongly condemned the incident. They said that the accused Shafi has been suspended for the time being. He may also be dismissed from service on the basis of the full report of the investigation.
