Marriage is possible only in the opposite sex: Sangh backs Centre’s view

New Delhi:The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has supported the central government’s view on same-sex marriage. The central government had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing the marriage. Rss general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale made its stand clear on the issue.
“Only two people of the opposite sex can get married,” Hosabale said at an event on Tuesday. We agree with the view of the central government. ’’

After the Supreme Court’s verdict in 2018, same-sex relationships in India are no longer “illegal”. However, there is no legal recognition of same-sex marriage in this country yet. The Centre had filed an affidavit in the apex court of the country objecting to the marriage. On Monday, this A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud referred the matter to a five-judge Constitution bench. The case will be heard on April 18.

Opposing the legal recognition of same-sex marriages, the Centre’s affidavit said there is a clear divide between same-sex marriages and non-sex marriages. Therefore, the two should not be seen in the same way. The Modi government claims that unequal marriages have a “social value”. For the ‘betterment’ of the country, society, there is a need for the recognition of marriage in the opposite sex. But there is no need for recognition of same-sex marriage.
A bunch of petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriage were filed in various courts of the country. On January 6, the Supreme Court had ordered that all cases in this regard be clubbed together. After that, a bench headed by the Chief Justice referred the case to the Constitution Bench.
