New Delhi:The Supreme Court dismissed the public interest litigation (PIL) filed in the Supreme Court regarding judicial registration of live-in relationships as impractical.
The public interest litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court referred to the heinous crimes being committed in connection with the ongoing live-in relationships secretly citing the murders of Shraddha Balkar and Nikki Yadav.
The judges expressed surprise when the petition regarding the registration of live-in relationships was tabled before a division bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice p S Narsimha and J B Pardibala.
Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud said that “the issue of official inclusion of live-in relationships is strange. How do you think that registration of live-in relationships is possible? Such a petition should be dismissed without penalty”.
