Guwahati:International Fide Rated player Chaarvi Choudhury clinched the title in “The Down Town School Ayodhana Rapid Chess Tournament” organized by Chess Players’ Parents’ Forum at The Down Town School, Hathisila, Guwahati. Chaarvi scored perfect 6 points from 6 rounds to claim the title. Pran Govinda Parasar Kashyap scored 5 points from same number of rounds and got second position. Nalinakhya Kashyap and Abhirup Saikia also scored 5 points each but got third and fourth position respectively on the basis of tie-break score. Tanmay Rajkhowa got fifth position by scoring 4.5 points.
Ikshita Barman adjudged best girl of the tournament. She scored 4 points from 6 rounds. Hridika Das and Anwesha Gohain also scored 4 points but declared second and third respectively on the basis of their tie-break score.
Rayhaan Hussain scored 4 points and got first position in under-15 category. Aniket Dutta also scored 4 points in this category but declared second on the basis of tie-break score. Kritartha Saikia scored 3 points and got third position.
Mrinmoy Rajkhowa got first position in under-13 category by scoring 4.5 points. Sahaj Gupta and Himanish Kumar Sarma also scored 4.5 points each but got second and third position respectively on the basis of tie-break score.
Aarhaan Rahman Borah got first position in under-11 category. He scored 4.5 point from 6 rounds. Krishnaav Hazarika scored 4 points and got second position. Madrik Bairagi got third position by scoring 3 points.
Bhaumik Kishore Das got first position in under-9 category by scoring 4 points. Ameya Gupta also scored 4 points but got second position on the basis of tie-break score. Nistha Saikia got third position by scoring 3.5 poins.
In under-7 category Hreyansh Deka got first position, He scored 3 points. Chaarvi Shree Barman and Pragyan Basumatary scored 1.5 points each and got second and third position respectively on the basis of tie-break score.
Altogether 70 players participated in the tournament. The tournament was held in siwss league system for rapid time format. Fide Arbiter Pranab Kumar Nath conducted the tournament as Chief Arbiter. Dr Siben Dutta, President, Chess Players Parents Forum, inaugurated the tournament. Maya Fernandes, Principal, The Down Town School attended the prize distribution ceremony as Chief Guest. Prizes were given away by Mr Bimal Sarma, Secretary, Chess Players Parents Forum Mr Sujaul Islam Hazarika, Treasurer, Chess Players Parents Forum Chess and Dr Siben Dutta, President Chess Players Parents Forum.
