Modi’s remarks: Rahul Gandhi files two petitions in Surat court, next hearing on bail on April 13

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today filed two petitions in the Surat court in the 2019 defamation case. One of these applications is a bail application. The court fixed April 13 as the matter for hearing rahul gandhi’s bail plea.

The Congress leader was convicted and sentenced to two years in a defamation case based on allegations that he had insulted Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a special remark. Rahul Gandhi today filed an application in the sessions court in Surat seeking quashing of the district magistrate’s order. Another petition was also filed to dismiss the verdict against him along with the said petition. The court today accepted Rahul’s bail plea and posted it for hearing on April 13.
