Will the written examination be lifted up to the class two? Recommendations of the Curriculum Committee of the Center
New Delhi: In the draft of the new education policy, it has been recommended to abolish the written examination up to the class two at the primary level.
Students will not have to sit for the written examination till class 2. The Narendra Modi government is going to introduce a new system of education at the primary level as per the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) created following the National Education Policy 2020. According to the new draft of the NCF, students will have to face the written examination from class 3 in the new system.

This step is recommended after reviewing the results of the study. In the new draft of the NCF, there is an alternative assessment method instead of the written examination up to class II. It is supposed to emphasize on observing the child and analyzing their learning experience.
In July 2020, the then Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ had announced the new National Education Policy. There was talk of three years of pre-primary education before the first grade. In October last year, Nishank’s successor Dharmendra Pradhan had announced a change in the opening of education at primary and pre-primary (anganwadi) levels. “Further steps will be taken in this regard in accordance with the draft of the NCF,” he said. ’’
