New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s Shelley Oberoi won unopposed on Wednesday for the mayoral post of the Delhi Municipal Corporation.Aberoi was declared the winner soon after SHIKHA RAI withdrew her nomination for the post of Mayor of Delhi. As a result, Oberoi got another term as mayor of Delhi.
The current deputy mayor Ali Mohammad Iqbal has also been elected for another term. BJP candidate Soni Pal filed his nomination papers for the post but later withdrew it. It may be noted that there was supposed to be a direct contest between incumbent mayor Oberoi and BJP Parthi Shikha Roy in the Mayoral elections of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi this afternoon. But putting an end to all those speculations the BJP candidate withdrew the nomination.
