New Delhi: This is the first time. Japan’s Health Ministry has approved abortion pills. Pregnant women can use this pill in the early stages of pregnancy. Abortion at 22 weeks is legal in Japan. But that requires the partner’s approval.

Until now, surgical abortion was the only procedure. Now the drug (Abortion Pill) made by British pharmaceutical company LineFarma has been added to it. The pill was submitted to the Japanese authorities for consent in December 2021. It was finally approved.
The world’s first abortion pill was introduced in France. The pil was approved in 1988. The drug has been introduced in the United States (US) since 2000. But recently, there has been a debate about the legality of abortion in america. The US Supreme Court ruled that the 50-year-old abortion law should be struck down. Abortion will no longer be legalized. People from common people to famous personalities joined the protest against the verdict. Then, however, some provincial courts ruled against the Supreme Court’s decision. In April, the drug, called maifopriston, was temporarily banned. This drug is used in at least 53 percent of abortions in the United States. But an hour after the ruling was announced, a provincial court in Washington said the order would not take effect in 17 states.
